Martin Maritsch has successfully defended his PhD!

We are pleased to share that doctoral researcher and PhD candidate Martin Maritsch successfully defended his PhD thesis last week.

Martin’s thesis is titled “Leveraging Machine Learning to Achieve Vision Zero: In-Vehicle Hypoglycemia Detection for Drivers with Diabetes”. Martin’s work focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of a hypoglycemia warning system to support drivers with diabetes and builds upon the HEADWIND project. The system detects driver impairment and should help prevent critical situations on the road.

Details on the HEADWIND project can be found at the HEADWIND project page.

During his PhD, Martin was supervised by Prof. Dr. Elgar Fleisch & Prof. Dr. Felix Wortmann (pictured below with Martin and Co-examiner Prof. Dr. Dietrich Manstetten from Robert Bosch GmbH). Congratulations to Martin on passing his doctoral studies! We would like to wish Martin all the best for leaving academia and launching his career in data science at AWS! We foresee a bright future for Martin!
