About Alicia Salamanca-Sanabria

Alicia Salamanca-Sanabria is a clinical psychologist with more than ten years of clinical experience from South America (Colombia), where she worked with a variety of populations, including inmates. Alicia completed her PhD at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and worked as a clinical research associate under the Enterprise/ Academia collaboration scheme with SilverCloud Health. Alicia’s work has focused on culturally adapted cognitive behavioural internet-delivered treatment for depression. Currently, at the Singapore-ETH Centre, Alicia is leading the mental health component of ‘LvLUP’, a holistic digital intervention for the prevention of common mental disorders and non-communicable diseases.

About the Lecture

Evidence indicates that digital therapeutics (DTx) are effective in treating mild, moderate, and severe behavioural and mental health problems across the lifespan. DTx provide access to a range of low-cost, scalable treatments for mental health conditions. The next steps in the field include the inclusion of the global context, including underserved populations, as well as adaptations to different cultures and languages. In this lecture, we will discuss the effectiveness of DTx interventions in mental health, as well as how these interventions have been adapted in different countries and communities. DTx companies for depression will also be analysed in this presentation, and we will take a brief look at early-stage research in Singapore with an eye toward the future.
