Congratulations to Philip Cleres for winning a competition in which candidates challenged a deep learning algorithm!

Sensing Researchers David Cleres and Filipe Barata programmed a deep learning algorithm to identify cough sounds from human volunteers. To test the algorithm’s performance, they asked family and friends to compete against the algorithm in this task. David and Filipe would like to thank everyone who participated in this challenge.

After competing agains 19 others, David’s brother Philip Cleres came out on top with the highest score in assigning coughs correctly. Congratulations, Philip! Philip was issued a certificate as well a pair of GT1 Pro Headphones as a reward for his efforts – we’re hoping that these headphones will bring him joy and help preserve Philip’s excellent hearing!
