Congratulations to Varun Mishra on a distinguished paper award by ACM!

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Varun MishraFlorian Künzler, PhD, Dr. Jan-Niklas Kramer, Prof. Dr. Elgar Fleisch, Associate Professor Dr. Tobias Kowatsch and Prof. David Kotz, PhD, on the IMWUT Distinguished Paper Award at this year’s ACM international joint conference on pervasive and ubiquitous computing (UbiComp) for the paper “Detecting Receptivity for mHealth Interventions in the Natural Environment”, published in the Proceedings of the ACM on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable and Ubiquitous Technologies (PACM IMWUT), Volume 5.

The committee found that “this research is a perfect example of how to improve mobile health interventions by exploring models that help to decide on the fly when the right moment for the intervention has arrived. It reports findings from an in-the-wild study with 83 participants over three weeks and thus constitutes a core Ubicomp research contributions.”

First author Varun Mishra, Assistant Professor at Northeastern University accepted the award at last week’s UbiComp/ISWC 2022 Awards Ceremony. Only 3% of papers receive an award every year, so this is a huge honour! Well done to Varun and his co-authors for this outstanding work!
