Congratulations to the PRECIOUS team on successful funding of a new project to be built on the PRECIOUS platform for the Design and Trials of Precision Digital Therapeutics (PDTx): eFICUS, a digital health intervention to improve Family health and self-care capacity in Intensive Care UnitS.

Using a human-centered design approach, the digital health intervention eFICUS will leverage advances in digital technology and user-centered design to develop timely, equitable, and individualized access to psychoeducational and emotional support for families affected by critical illness. eFICUS will complement family-focused health care to families by ICU nurses and physicians. The project will be led by Prof. Dr. Rahel Naef, Prof. Dr. Anna Lisa Martin-Niedecken, and Prof. Dr. Tobias Kowatsch.

Funded through the Digitalization Initiative of the Zurich Higher Education Institutions (DIZH) ‘s fifth Project Call, eFICUS was one of 12 out of 90 projects to be awarded funding.  The funded projects are characterized by their innovative strength, social relevance, and strong practical relevance. They range from intensive care units to classrooms to forensic institutes, from ancient inscriptions to deepfake voices.
