Guest lecture on Operationalizing and Implementing Generative Pretrained Language Models and Large Language Models in Healthcare: Emre Sezgin, 6 April 2023

Thursday, 6 April 2023, 4:00 – 5:30 PM CET

About Dr. Emre Sezgin

Dr. Emre Sezgin is a Principal Investigator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital & Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He has been a digital health scientist and innovator more than a decade, having experience and expertise in research & development and implementation of multimodal, intelligent, and connected digital health ecosystems for patients and families. His multidisciplinary and collaborative research agenda focuses on improving remote care and patient-generated health data, clinical informatics implementation and integration promoting digital equity and inclusion, understanding digital behavior, and engagement among patient populations. He is specifically interested in remote care with conversational AI and voice, patient-generated health data (PGHD), and digital health equity.

About the Lecture

Generative pretrained transformer models and large language models are the popular AI/ML solutions in the market. They have been gaining interest due to their enhanced capabilities and performance. ChatGPT has been one of the latest examples demonstrating cutting-edge capability of generative models, as well as human-like logical and intellectual responses to prompts. However, question regarding the implementation and operability in health care, clinical practice and research remain unanswered. In this lecture, we will review these models, their capabilities and address considerations for the implementation and operationalization in healthcare and clinical practice.
