A warm welcome to PhD student Mesut Ceylan

We are pleased to welcome Mesut Ceylan as a doctoral researcher at CDHI in Zurich, Switzerland. Mesut is part of the Core AI & Digital Biomarker, Acoustic and Inflammatory Biomarkers. His research centers on advancing digital biomarker discovery and health informatics through innovative applications of machine learning and advanced statistical techniques, with a particular focus on cerebrospinal fluid analysis. He will be supervised by Dr. Filipe Barata and Prof. Dr. Elgar Fleisch.

Mesut holds M. Sc in Computer Science from UZH and B. Sc in Industrial Engineering from ITU. Prior to his PhD ETH Zurich, he gained industry experience as a Machine Learning Engineer at Canaria, a U.S.-based startup, where he developed NLP and LLM-driven algorithms and engineered scalable vector and graph database solutions for complex data retrieval challenges. His multidisciplinary background also includes business and analytics-oriented roles, such as his work as a Data Analyst at ETH Zurich, where he collaborated on data-driven projects, and his earlier experiences at Bayer, where he gained insights into the intersection of healthcare and management.
