A warm welcome to new team member Rachel Robles
Please join us in welcoming Rachel Robles to the School of Medicine, University of St. Gallen (HSG), and the Centre for Digital Health Interventions (CDHI). Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tobias Kowatsch, Prof. Dr. Marcia Nißen and Dr. Rasita Vinay, her PhD research will focus on the development and evaluation of LLM-Agentic digital therapeutics for healthy longevity in perimenopausal women and older adults, as part of the PreDiabeTx Innosuisse flagship project (SP4).
Rachel holds a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence in Medicine from the University of Bern and a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research from Cornell University. Before transitioning into medical data science, she spent seven years in industry specializing in business intelligence. Most recently, she has contributed to advanced digital health projects, including building LLM pipelines to extract critical data from medical records and constructing causal models to quantify the impact of infections on symptom trajectories—a line of research from her master’s thesis that she is currently working on publishing in collaboration with the Patient-Led Research Collaborative (PLRC).
Beyond her technical achievements, Rachel is a passionate about health justice. As a patient-researcher with the US-based PLRC, she co-authored a prominent 2024 paper in Cell advocating for advanced Long COVID research. She has also collaborated with government agencies to improve healthcare equity and contributed to The Long COVID Survival Guide.
