A Digital Biomarker for Biological Age

We are delighted to share a look into the research of our ADAMMA core, into digital biomarkers for biological age!

In this video, Prof. Dr. Elgar Fleisch and Dr. Filipe Barata explain the importance of their research, led by Dr. Jinjoo Shim from the Center for Digital Health Interventions.

Biological age, a measure of how the body’s organs and cells are aging, can be a measure of how healthy our lifestyle is. If our biological age is above our chronological age, it indicates an unhealthy lifestyle. If it is below that, your body is young for it’s age, indicating that you’ve probably done a lot for your health.

Traditionally, complex laboratory tests must be performed in order to determine a person’s biological age. But if this research is any indication, this could soon change, with large impacts for measuring and funding prevention of chronic disease.
