Digital Women’s Health Core MSc student Madeleine Soukup recently demoed the latest version of the CyMe app at AlpCHI2026, and if her day wasn’t full enough, she also found time to post about her experience on the University of Zürich‘s Instagram account.  She kindly shared her experience with us:

“Last week I had the chance to take over the UZH account and share a glimpse into AlpCHI2026 – my first academic conference and an inspiring experience!

AlpCHI brings together researchers and practitioners in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in unique alpine settings, for this first edition on Monte Verità in Ascona. Across the days we explored topics ranging from AI and digital health to interaction design and emerging technologies.

For me, it was especially exciting to present my group work project “CyMe: Connecting Menstrual Cycles and Sports Tracking for Everyday Athletes” that was supervised by Prof. Marcia Nißen, and to connect with researchers from different disciplines who are all interested in designing technology that supports people in meaningful ways.

A big thank you to the organizers and the amazing community that made AlpCHI such a welcoming and inspiring place for both early-career and established researchers. Looking forward to what comes next! ✨”

CyMe now includes a sports component. Implementation of the sports tracking feature was completed by Madeleine Soukup, Flavia Taras, Carol Barbara Ernst and Kristijonas Buciunas, with supervision from Prof. Dr. Elaine Huang and Prof. Dr. Marcia Nißen.

Thank you Madeleine for sharing your thoughts and photos!
