This month, CDHI welcomed Singapore’s Social and Family Development Minister Masagos Zulkifli, kicking off a full-day visit to ETH for the minister and his 16-person delegation. During his 5-day trip to Switzerland, the Minister investigated the uses of AI for social services, looking into opportunities to collaborate with partners to scale solutions and improve access.  During his visit to CDHI, Prof.  Dr. Tobias Kowatsch and Prof. Dr. Elgar Fleisch presented the Centre’s vision for scaling prevention, management and treatment of disease through digital therapeutics and showcased interventions developed over the past 10 years addressing health challenges across the human lifespan.

The visit emphasized a shared commitment to leveraging technology for public good, specifically focusing on how digital tools can bridge gaps in social equity. Minister Masagos highlighted the importance of “human-centric” AI, noting that while technology provides the infrastructure for efficiency, its ultimate success is measured by its ability to provide more personalized and accessible care for vulnerable populations. By observing CDHI’s and ETH Zurich’s interdisciplinary approach—combining engineering, behavioral science, and clinical research—the Singaporean delegation gained insights into creating robust digital ecosystems that support citizens from early childhood through elderly care.

Following his visit to CDHI, the Minister visited other departments at ETH, including the department of Health Sciences and Technology, the Soft Robotics Lab,  the Cybathlon Lab Spaces, and toured historical sites at the university such as the Dozentenfoyer and Einstein’s Locker.

The minister’s delegation was accompanied by a television crew from Channel News Asia, who have produced a report, which can be viewed here.
