Continuing Education
Join the CAS Digital Health Therapeutics – now offered jointly by ETH, University of St. Gallen and the University of Zurich

Programme description
Using the globally rising numbers and costs of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as a backdrop, this course explains why today’s intervention paradigm does not appropriately target chronic and mental health conditions and dives deeper into what opportunities digital health interventions hold for patient care.
The course equips participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage with digital health: understanding research, business models, and targeted applications. The lecturers focus on the latest trends such as artificial intelligence, LLMs, and precision health in the field of digital health.
Goals & Overview
This continuing education course equips participants with the skills to design, implement, and evaluate digital health interventions for chronic physical and mental conditions—enabling personalised, scalable, and cost-effective care.
Participants will explore business models, assess existing applications, and gain hands-on experience by designing a digital biomarker using wearable technology and developing a smartphone-based, chatbot-delivered intervention.
They will leave with a solid foundation in digital health, a portfolio of applied project work, and the confidence to lead or contribute to digital health initiatives in their own professional context.

“I truly enjoyed this program. It gave me practical insights into how digital health solutions can be designed to create real impact – improving patient outcomes while strengthening the sustainability of healthcare systems through digital, smarter, and more efficient care delivery.”

“This was my first in-depth exposure to digital health. I learnt the theory and the basics, and with the hands-on assignments and projects I was able to get a better understanding and feel more confident in digital health.
Now we’re introducing wearables and digital health for our clients at the clinic. I was able to lead this project: to talk knowledgeably to industry, evaluate which wearables to use and recommend which biomarkers to monitor with our clients.
It has been an exciting journey for me and the start of my career in digital health. I’d highly recommend this programme.”
Elissar Souweid, Nutrition and Innovation Manager & CAS DHT 2024-2025 Graduate
